A little perspective

The trip is off to an awesome start. Here is the quickest post ever because we are about to play UNO!

Set me up for a “big dinner” but I am refusing to feel guilty over the loaf of good bit of sourdough garlic bread I inhaled.

I also had some popcorn at the bar plus most of the pasta my dad served up. I skipped the pork and went with shrimp. seafood is in for this week… but I am hoping to head to the grocery store tomorrow to supplement the groceries that my dad was so kind as to stock our kitchen with! His girlfriend picked out some healthy stuff for us to nosh on but I am gonna add some stuff!

Bring on the long walks, the books, the sleep, the relaxation…

Almost overeating right now is just a sign: it’s not worth it. This vacation is going to be too good to get worked up over some wine and extra white carbs. It happens. Move on.

  3. YES. umm that pasta? looks like something my little sicilian nonno would whip up! SO GOOD! and your’e so right, it’s really just not worth the stress sometimes. It’s delicious, you’re not eating like this every single day, you’re with people you don’t see too often….you’re on vacation!! Focusing on the people you’re with and how much fun you’re having is totally the way to go. I actually had a moment like that last night too – I haven’t worked out (save two 20 minute swims) in four days, and I’m not allowed to again until this coming tuesday or wednesday, and usually any treat food of any kind would be a huge no-no without a workout to “earn” it. But last night, my dad and I were each doing our own thing for dinner – he ordered chinese takeout and decided to bust out some Sake to go with it. I was having chicken and butternut squash and decided “you know what, it’s saturday night, and I kinda want a beer.” and of course at first I was like “well you only swam 20 minutes today and you’re not gonna be working this off tomorrow” but somehow I found myself thinking “so what? It’s one beer. it’s saturday. i want it.” and that was that! the Blue Moon won out haha. And shockingly, no, I have not yet become a whale. I’m actually kind of enjoying this break from all training, from even thinking about training really – I’ve never given my body one before in my life. So I hope you thoroughly enjoy yours too! And I think with a little R&R you WILL be ready to ease into running when you get back….I’m hopeful we’ll be doing that “together”!! :-D

      And I agree. I think I”m going to find this relaxation thing actually relaxing for the first time in FOREVER. O M G! Epiphany much?

      Great job on the beer. Like, that is more than normal. Most girls our age drink on a regular basis…ya know?! You’re doing great.

      I hope for the running start soon for us both. Like really hope. My fingers, toes, eyes are crossed. ;)
